The DragRace Concepts Redline Sidewinder Pro Mod 1/10 Drag Racing Kit is a 12-inch-wheelbase Pro Mod chassis based on the DRC1 platform. Its 90% assembled chassis uses precision-machined 7075 aluminum components, 2.5mm carbon fiber frame rails, and a Sidewinder drivetrain configuration.

Sidewinder Drivetrain

The Sidewinder layout places the motor perpendicular to the chassis and uses a pinion gear on the motor shaft with a spur gear attached to the back side of the wheel hub. This configuration eliminates extra rotating parts found on an inline chassis and provides variable gear ratio options for matching the pinion and spur gear to the tire diameter.

Sidewinder chassis setup requires attention to left-to-right rear weight balance. A scale board is required to balance the rear of the car by spacing the rear hubs. The drivetrain can also create a climbing effect that may cause the front end to lift, and lead weight may be required at the front of the chassis. The battery position is much farther forward than on an inline car.
